How Max Christie Expects To Be Used In LA's Rotation This Year
USA TODAY Sports

After a very strong showing in the NBA summer league, many around the Los Angeles Lakers are expecting second year forward Max Christie to get a spot in the rotation this season. Christie dominated in the summer games, showing off his growth as a player. He looked more aggressive on both offense and defense while also hitting his three-point shots at a consistent clip.

LA wanted to see the growth of Christie on display and he certainly did that and more. He was asked to be the main offensive piece for the summer league team while also taking on the task of defending the opposing team’s best player.

The former Michigan State product did enough to earn rotation minutes for this upcoming season and even he believes that.

“(The Lakers) have been in contact all along, of course,” Christie said. “They let me know what is expected and I am just trying to deliver on that, or do more, exceed it.”

At times last season, Christie looked uncomfortable and timid on the floor. He likely didn’t want to make a mistake as a rookie but at least during the summer league, that mindset looked gone for good. Christie attacked the rim with ease and created some highlights of his own.

“I feel a lot more comfortable, feel a lot more confident out here, just having the ball in my hands and being able to just play my game,” he said. “And so it’s kind of crazy what one year can do for you one year of experience."

Christie looks like he will be given a chance within the rotation after his growth. He is the perfect type of player that can help this Lakers team find success around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. His three-and-D skillset is what this team needs and Christie could find himself being placed into big spots next season if all goes well for him.
