European import Laulne will try for her second stakes win on Santa Anita’s unique hillside turf course when she takes on seven rivals in the Sunday’s Grade 3, $100,000 Senorita Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif.

Bred in France, Laulne was a Group 3 winner in her native country before shipping to Santa Anita last fall to contest the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. She was never a factor when finishing 10th in her U.S. bow for trainer Phil D’Amato.

Laulne resurfaced April 7 at Santa Anita and promptly scored by a nose under Antonio Fresu in the Angels Flight Stakes at about 6 ½ furlongs on the hillside turf course. The runner-up that day was Alluring, who also returns in the Senorita.

By Starspangledbanner, Laulne is owned by Madaket Stables, Panic Stables, Gerard Augustin-Normand, Robert V. Lapenta and William Strauss. She is 8: 4-1-2 with $180,762 in earnings.

Making her first start since the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf is Flattery. Trained by Peter Eurton, Flattery finished 12th of 14 that day. Prior to the Breeders’ Cup, the Flatter filly won the Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar and was third in the G3 Surfer Girl at Santa Anita.

Flattery has a record of 4: 2-0-1 with $133,200 in earnings for owners Exline-Border Racing, Burns Racing LLC, Aaron Kennedy and Richard Hausman. Jockey Juan Hernandez, who was aboard for the Breeders’ Cup, again has the call Sunday.

Alluring had the lead in deep stretch of the Angels Flight before getting nailed on the wire by Laulne. Trained By Richard Mandella, Alluring was third in the Feb. 11 Sweet Life on the hillside turf course prior to the Angels Flight.

By Ghostzapper, Alluring races as a homebred for Perry and Ramona Bass. She is 4: 1-2-0 with $71,700 in earnings. Jockey Umberto Rispoli rides Alluring for the fourth straight race.

Antifona was fourth beaten 1 ¾ lengths in the Angels Flight. Prior to the effort she won the Sweet Life and was third in the one-mile China Doll March 10. Trained by John Sadler for owner Hronis Racing, the daughter of Recoletos started her career in her native France. She is 12: 3-2-1 with $138,867.
